Attention
acreage owners - S/C living space needed
With the economy the
way it is, we expect to have to move the group to even smaller premises
at the end of our current lease. Basically, a two bedroom place or a large
one bedroom should be sufficient to house the group's office and communications.
We will NOT need space for rescue operations in our next location (although
I have my own personal pets which include aviary birds but NO dogs or
cats). We would also prefer NOT to be in Cairns but would prefer the coastal
region from south of the Daintree River to the Innisfail region. The max
rent we can afford will be $200 for a two bedroom place or about $150
for a one bedroom.
The house/granny flat
needs to have its own phone line and it would be ideal if broadband access
(through the land line) is available. We are open to negotiation on the
rent in exchange for helping out around the property. This might be
by helping to look after certain animals/pets; helping in the garden (not
heavy labour); providing some computer support to a home based business;
be an onsite presence on the property when the residents are travelling,
etc.. If you have such an acreage property that might be suitable, please
ring me to chat about it (4045-0373 arvos and eves - always leave a message
if you get voice mail - it is quite busy here!).
Items wanted:
I'm not much of a
fan for all things hi-tech and still use my lovely Technics turntable
so some of the items I am looking to buy might seem a bit rediculous to
you - but if you have them crowding your shed, let me know. You can regain
some space and a bit of cash at the same time and these things will be
recycled instead of thrown away!
- IBM
Selectric II typewriter and ribbons in good repair
- windup
alarm clock (the ones with the two bells on the top)
- vinyl
records in good condition (70's and 80's - Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd,
early 80's techno-pop, 70's rock, lots of synthesizers, etc.)
- Massive Attack
cd's, gregorian cd's, Gary Numan cd's
- working casette
deck with the old needle levels
- a bottle cutter
(popular in the 70's for turning bottles into glasses, etc.)
- small walk in aviary
in good condition
- Whoppi Goldberg
on dvd or video, esp. Burglar
- a Dobsonian telescope
- lens between 6-1/2 and 10-1/2 (if you don't mind being paid in installments
- I'm on a fixed income!)
Items for
sale:
- see
also the group's for sale page (in construction) but I have a mercury
vapour lamp for sale, some comedy dvd's and videos in excellent condition
and an antique black velvet coat from the 1920's and black velvet eyelet
dress (very rare) from the 1950's
- very large succulents
in ceramic pots, mostly euphorbias and Kalanchoe beharensis (from
Madagascar), a pony tail palm about 7 feet tall, and other smaller succulents
and cacti
Are there
any YES fans out there?
Those
of you in your 40's and 50's might remember an exceptionally talented
group of British musicians who created incredibly sophisticated and spiritual
music that wasn't your money making, top-40 drone, but something so layered
and intellectual that listening to it could become a personal revelation!
Hey, well it was like that for me, anyway. I'd like to see any of these
newcomers play drums like Alan White, or keep up with Steve Howe for a
mere 60 seconds, or write something as passionate or creative as Rick
Wakeman!
I finally got hold
of a copy of Yesshows (that only took 27 years) expecting that the absolutely
KILLER version of Starship Trooper done during the last tour they used
the round stage was going to be included ... and it wasn't!! Does anyone
know if a recording was done of the last round stage tour (was it 79??)?
While we're talking
about YES, I'd also like to get my hands on a copy - preferably on vinyl
- of the double album Rhapsodies from 1981 by Rick Wakeman. My copy is
very worn out.
