Taxi's Just Won't Do AnymoreWe have been operating for ten years without having any transport of our own. This has been extremely problematic and with taxi fares what they are now, a simple trip to the airport only three suburbs away costs $40. Even a simple supply run for bug food or chemicals has to sit and wait until somebody with a car has time to cart our bicycle-riding curator around to the relevant shops. We can't continue not having some kind of transport, even if it is only a scooter. A small, reliable vehicle would be better, of course. If you are in the car business or you are planning on upgrading your small car for a family model, please keep reading. For those working in car dealerships:
For individuals about to trade in a small car:
We are looking for the smallest automatic transmission (or clutch-less synchromesh) vehicle we can get. It must be mechanically reliable as we are a very cash-strapped organisation and can't be using donated dollars every other month to have another major part replaced. Suitable models are Mazda 121, Toyota Echo, Ford Fiesta, anything small -- with valid rego for at least a few months. If we are having to purchase the vehicle under a special arrangement, the most we can possibly pay for a vehicle in excellent running condition is $2,500 although $2,000 is far more doable, especially if the rego is about to run out. If the vehicle needs work, the price of the repairs and the vehicle itself will need to total $2,500. If by the end of June, our driveway remains void of a set of Dunlops, then we would be willing to consider a scooter under the same terms as described above for dealerships and individuals. Accordingly, we would not want to spend more than $1,200 for a second hand scooter. If you have a 'horseless carraige' with four or two wheels and might consider driving it in our direction, please ring 4033-0723 to have a chat to us about your situation and your wheels.
